Assalamu-alaykum (Peace be upon you)!
Good to see you again, my dear friend! I hope you’re doing well inshaAllah (if God’s willing)! Much, much peace be upon you. Very much peace.
Peace that…isn’t found that much in the media recently. Peace that we crave for lately. Peace that is lost in our hearts over again.
And I ask you, my friend, why all that?
Why for God’s sake do we as “White Western Society” find ourselves looking for peace? Aren’t we already living in a safe place? I mean, come on! We certainly do NOT live in such a “dangerous” country such as Syria? Or Libanon, Kenya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Irak, etc? So what’s the deal with searching for peace when we’re already living in Europe, in not a war zone?
Let me tell you one thing, my friend.
It’s our fear of terrorism which is happening in our area, right? An attack here and there just makes us feeling living in Europe not safely anymore. And we’re starting to think with fear. We’re (almost) coming to a conclusion that this fear (that these terrorists bring us) must also be dealt with the same amount of fear, or even more. We must also kill to show these terrorists. Isn’t that most of the peoples here are thinking of lately…? Kill to stop them killing?
It’s in the news, guys. France is officially now at war with Islamic State and even French president Francois Hollande has pledged to destroy the terrorists with a bombing raid (www.express.co.uk)
Well, to me it was never (and it won’t ever either!) be an option to me, killing people as a revenge. Because it’s simply like harvesting. If you sow something bad, then you will reap something bad, right?
Our task as humanity is not to reap what we sowed yesterday, but rather to sow what we will (and want to) reap tomorrow.
We haven’t always react good as the “White Western Society”. We just have not. And you must realize and accept it because it is no longer unknown that it’s most European countries that funds the IS, which is now the richest terror organization ever (it’s being assumed around 3 million $ income daily (!); the IS controls six out of Syria’s ten oil fields and some smaller ones in Iraq by the way). Anyways, economy isn’t the point in here.
It’s our actions and our responsibility which I want to highlight here.
Referring to today’s situations, most Muslims feel ashamed when it comes to those IS attacks. “Another attack from a Muslim terrorist, so typical!!!”. Well, it’s obvious that Islam is DEFINITELY NOT working in that way. Unfortunately, not all people would agree with me, right? “Because you Muslims are all the same. You just don’t want to admit your bad behavioural-being!!!”. Sigh.
So it’s basically almost everytime us Muslims who feel an urge to apologize to the whole world for the IS being so cruel. For every single fatality that has happened in Europe due to terrorism. For being Muslim.
How about this though. “White people” have never actually (or rarely) said sorry for George Bush leading the USA into an occupation which killed half a million civilians. They’ve never actually apologized for police officers that killed so many black boys. For the World War. For slavery. For colonizing almost every country in this world.
I don’t really want to sound racist for having listed those things nor do I want to justify Muslims’ actions by showing those actions from “White People”. Not at all. I just want to show you guys that we’re humans and we do make a lot of mistakes. We ain’t perfect and we will never be.
We need to stop blaming each other and start working together. France and all the other countries must realize that the IS cannot be killed, it only must be stopped. Wars are never an option, and honestly, it’ll never come to an end with this strategy…
We have to understand that we only can sow peace to harvest peace back.
Terrorism is above all murder. It is strictly forbidden in the Qur’an.
“Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (Quran, Surah 5, Verse 32).
The beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) even counseled doing good to those who harm you.
“Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
These terrorists just misinterpret their own religion and there’s nothing else left than feeling sorry and worry for them. I do feel angry about them, too. But mainly worry.
Because their essence is goodness, only their actions are evil. Their evil is accident. And only this evil must be eradicated, not their essence. They must be stopped, not killed, in other words.
To get them stopped we must stop declaring wars over wars over wars. We must stop killing!
We have to pray and love and understand each other. Those terrorists only got alive because of wars. And if those wars won’t stop, then so these terrorists won’t stop, followed by this massive amount of refugees.
This is a vicious circle- if we never stop killing.
“And Allah is most knowing of your enemies; and sufficient is Allah as an ally, an sufficient is Allah as a helper.” (Quran, Surah 4, Verse 45).
Terrorists mainly attack bars, restaurants, stadiums, concert halls etc.. Why? Because those are all places that by nature bring us closer together and unite us by our common connections, right? And that is what exactly these terrorists don’t want us to. They don’t want us to be united. So they attack public places in hope to separate us from each other. How? So Islamophobics can become angry towars Muslims. How disturbing is this whole thing actually?
At the end of the day, we must reflect on ourselves and think out of the box.
We need to take care of each other and be strong enough to stay united. That’s when we’re strongest. That’s when the IS can’t destroy us.
Also, we need to stop wasting time on social media by showing “our solidarity” by changing the profile picture into French flags’ colours. I mean, this is the worst. How the heck can something like this help us against terrorism? We have to put more effort into helping affairs. By real life actions. By reminding people about terrorism and its affects and how we can avoid it, how we can make a better world. Please, people. Stop these ridiculous stuff and get active!
Coming to an end, I just want to make clear again that we’re strongest when we’re united, my friends.
Verily, if we just stick more together and stop blaming other religions for cruel terrorism acts, we will make such a huge change in this society, actually in this world.
I’m praying to Allah, the most helpful and gracious, that He changes every human heart into a better. That we all can offer our kids in the future a much, much more peaceful world. Without any terrorism and fear. Without racism. Without any hate of religions. Only respect to each other, and compassion.
Oh Allah! Make us those who constantly remembers You! Bring peace in our hearts and keep any kind of fear away from us. Keep us healthy, strong and good-minded people. Don’t ever keep us astray and give us much sabr (patience) and strength. Both in the body and soul. Ameen! ❤
Please note that I got very inspired by many people on writing this post. For example, such as the status of Ashley Powys that got shared in my timeline on Facebook. He tells us about his way back home on the train meeting this girl with hijab and his reaction when some guy starts blaming her for terrorism. Must read, very inspiring! 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this post and got also inspired not to only pray for the world, but work for a better one!
Assalamu-alaykum (Peace be upon you)
